Peter Kay’s ‘Carshare’ coming to BBC iPlayer, takes a comedy look at liftsharing

Peter Kay comedy Carshare has been slated for a 2015 launch on BBC iPlayer, before being shown on BBC One. The comedian’s latest show follows Phoenix Nights spin-off Max and Paddy Hit the Road, and while the latter has travel in common, Carshare is quite a different beast.

The new sitcom will enjoy a six-episode run, and stars Kay as John alongside co-star Sian Gibson as Kayleigh. They are both thrown together as unlikely travellers via their company’s car share scheme, with hilarious and unexpected results.

Here’s the 2015 BBC trailer, and you’ll catch a glimpse of Carshare around the 1:30 mark:

Liftshare knows this side of the sharing economy all too well. While it takes a degree of courage to carshare with new people – especially if you aren’t too fond of being social, we have found that many of our members go on to make great new friends and connections while on the road. We suspect John and Kayleigh will learn to enjoy each other’s company as the show progresses.

Although they don’t seem to be great mates at the start, judging by this image:
