Liftshare Week gears up sharing at Jaguar Land Rover Halewood

Jaguar Land Rover staff at the company’s Halewood site took Liftshare Week 2016 as an opportunity to galvanise their sharing culture – and signed up almost 350 new members to their scheme as a result of the campaign!

Leading by example and taking full advantage of the national Liftshare Week hype, the Merseyside employer hosted drop-in workshops for interested employees to attend and learn more about sharing their travel to and from work. Liftshare Scheme Manager Pam Hibbert set aside time in her working day to educate and inform staff on the benefits of car sharing – including financial savings, social and networking opportunities, and environmental advantages – and help them get involved. Pam said of the scheme’s Liftshare Week efforts: “Liftshare Week has been a great opportunity for Jaguar Land Rover to further demonstrate its commitment to sharing. We’ve succeeded in making shared travel the cultural norm – and those sharing their journeys to and from work are happier as a result of it! Helping employees move to sustainable transport where they can is just one of our ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

Using the Liftshare Week posters and downloadable marketing materials, Halewood HQ incorporated it’s new online #JLRFamily campaign into the fold; to reiterate its company community message and encourage sharing.

Jaguar Land Rover staff at the Halewood site are split into three shift patterns, with lift offers working around these times. There are 4,500 staff on-site, spanning manufacturing and back office disciplines.

As an employer, Jaguar Land Rover advocates liftsharing across its sites in Castle Bromwich, Solihull, Fen End, Gaydon, Whitley, and Ryton, alongside Liverpool’s Halewood. £1.5m has been saved in parking costs for the company as a result of shared travel, and over £3m saved in travel costs by employees who have confirmed they’re sharing. Over 13,000,000 miles have already been taken off of UK roads as a result of the employee car share scheme.
