Your guide to this week’s big UK events (Oct 27 edition)

Monday: George Ezra

English singer-songwriter George Ezra hits the road after first rising to fame with his hit single “Budapest” last year. He’s now got a full album under his belt – the acclaimed Wanted on Voyage, and he’s taking ir around the country. This week, George is playing the Portsmouth Pyramids, and is expected to belt out 2014 singles “Cassy O'” and “Blame it on Me.”

Tuesday: Soil, American Head Charge & Hed (P.E.)

Calling all nu-metallers of yesteryear! Early noughties acts Soil, American Head Charge and Hed (P.E) have bandied together for a joint tour of nostalgia, head banging and madness in the pit. Expect such nostalgic tracks as “Halo,” “Just So You Know,” and “Bartender.”

Wednesday: John Bishop

Comic John Bishop continues his Supersonic tour with a stop off in Brighton.His new show has received rave critical reviews so far, and the brilliantly accented chap shows no signs of slowing down.

Thursday: Skye Swing Jazz Festival

The Skye Swing Jazz Festival is back after a successful first year, kicking off with an evening of groove and jazz from Rick Taylor, Malcolm Macfarlane, Mario Caribe and Gordon McNeil. In the spirit of Halloween, award winning Guitarist and Composer Graeme Stephen and his troupe will perform a live score to silent horror movie Nosferatu, among many other events throughout the week.

 

Friday: The Spanish Riding School of Vienna

After winning Olympic gold, Team GB dressage rider Carl Hester has taken his show jumping performance around the country. Together with his stallion Uthopia, Hester will recreate his winning show together with the same music used in London, along with showcases by Charlotte Dujardin & Lee Pearson, before the Riding School of Vienna begin their stellar show.

Saturday: Distant Worlds

Legendary video game composer Nobou Uematsu teams up with the London Symphony Orchestra to recreate his compositions from the acclaimed Final Fantasy series. The show combines hauntingly beautiful arrangements with game footage to create a show fans of the games won’t soon forget. Expect a pounding rendition of ‘One Wing Angel’ before the night is through

Sunday: Octonauts

Attention all you pint-sized nautical fans and sea-faring tots, the Octonauts are in town! Captain Barnacles, Kwazii, and Peso take to the stage to engage in a series of underwater escapades guaranteed to delight land lubbers young and old.
