June is almost upon us, which means the next round of Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festivals are incoming from the wonderful team at Solid Entertainments. We’ve covered a few of their great line-ups here on the Liftshare blog, and the next events in Durham and Cleethorpes (20th and 21st of June respectively) are sure to give genre fans an unforgettable evening.
First, on Saturday 20th of June at the Gala Theatre (2-10pm), the festival takes Durham by storm with a great line-up of acts starting with headliner Geno Washington (pictured above). Solid Entertainments says of this amazing talent:
“[He] originates from Evansville in Indiana, USA and first came to England in the 1960’s as part of the US Air Force. His love of Blues and Soul music soon found him jamming with local bands in and around Ipswich and eventually led him to London where he caused a sensation singing with top R&B acts Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and Zoot Money’s Big Roll Band at the legendary Flamingo Club in Soho. The rest, as they say, is history.”
Washington is joined by applauded blues guitarist Aynsley Lister, rock troupe The Brew, singer-songwriting blues rocker Larry Miller, slide guitarist Erja Lyytinen and acclaimed blues band Red Butler.
Tickets to the Durham event are £28 in advance, and you can get all of the purchasing details here.
The line up at Cleethorpes (Sunday 21st of June at Pleasure Island from 3pm-11pm), is the same as Durham’s event, and advance tickets are also £28. You can order tickets and get more information here.
