Good green fun: Introducing the award-winning Wood Festival

Liftshare holds green matters close to its heart, so when we started looking at festivals to cover and interview on our blog, we simply couldn’t overlook Oxfordshire’s Wood Festival – running 15-17th May at Braziers Park.

So eco-conscious is this festival in fact, that editor of Festival Mag Kes name-dropped it in his interview with us about the real green impact of festivals, and how they can be better.

We will post an interview with the team behind Wood Festival on these pages soon, but we thought we’d kick-off with an introduction to what it’s all about, who’s playing in 2015, and how it differs from the rest of the UK festival pack.

Wood Festival won a Greener Festival Award in 2014 for its sustainability efforts, which including fuelling the event entirely using renewable power. Like many of the festivals we cover, there is a positive, family-friendly sense of community running throughout the festival, and the range of musical acts is both diverse and enjoyable.

What’s more, the festival also encourages car sharing via Liftshare to help keep the number of cars going to Braziers Park down, and carbon emissions at a minimum. The festival has also paired with Green Yurts to enable revellers to hire a Yurt for the weekend instead of bringing a tent – and to reduce the number of tents going abandoned by the end of the show.

Workshops include yoga classes, sustainable insights, craft sessions and more, while kids can enjoy puppet shows and other fun activities.

We’ll have more Wood Festival soon, but be sure to check out Liftshare to book cheap, green and social travel to the event. Download our Android and iOS apps to make finding a lift even easier.
