Happy Monday Liftsharers!

Autumn is upon us, the leaves are turning brown and cold weather is slowly returning to the UK. It’s always a shame to see the summer disappear, but fear not, because we’ve got a brand new feature on the Liftshare blog for you to enjoy.

This is the first edition of ‘Your Week in Liftsharing’ – a weekly guide to the hottest events happening up and down the country that you simply can’t afford to miss. These updates will appear every Monday to help you plan journeys using Liftshare, request lifts from drivers and come together in the name of your interests – be it gigging, film showings, expos, sporting fixtures and more.

So if you’re looking to cut petrol costs in the build-up to the expensive holiday season, or simply can’t bear the thought of waiting for buses in the rain, then be sure to check back each Monday to plan simpler travel and make new connections with like-minded people through Liftshare.

Monday: Billy Connolly – High Horse Tour

Tuesday: London Literature Festival

Back again for 2014, the London Literature Festival lands at the Southbank Centre from Tuesday September 30, kicking off almost a month of book events, appearances, lectures and more. Novel lovers can get an early preview of Stephen Fry’s new book The Fry Chronicles, take part in a celebration of Maya Angelou’s life works and much more.

Wednesday: Kate Bush – Before the Dawn

Kate Bush continues her critically-acclaimed Before the Dawn tour at London’s Eventim Apollo. The Wuthering Heights star comes to town hot off her Q Awards nominations for best Act in the World Today and best Live Act. Understandably, this is not a show to be missed.

Thursday: Celtic vs Dinamo Zagreb

Friday: Flipside Festival

Immerse yourself in Brazilian literature, music, art and dance at this year’s Flipside Festival in Suffolk. It’s the second time this cultural celebration has taken place at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall, and this year’s line-up is filled with top appearances from the likes of English patient author Michael Ondaatje, and author of The Ventriloquist’s Tale Pauline Melville to name a few headliners.

Saturday: Nottingham Comic Convention

Now in its second year, the Nottingham Comic convention is poised to serve up another round of comic goodness, with over 70 exhibitor tables, several high-profile guests from the industry and plenty of tomes and limited merchandise to snap up. Sunday: Blenheim Palace Half Marathon

The British Heart Foundation is holding a running event at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, and participants are invited to tackle either the half marathon or 10k run to help raise money for charity. Kids and families are also eligible for a fun run to help do their bit. The course promises 13.1 miles of hard work, but for a truly noble cause.
