Commuters encouraged to car-share whilst Bath train line is upgraded and electrified

For the whole of August trains from Frome to Bath Spa will be replaced with buses as the line is upgraded and electrified.

To support commuters during this hectic time, Somerset County Council is encouraging commuters to sign up to their Liftshare scheme. With over 1,500 people driving out of Frome to Bath and Bristol every day, the Liftshare scheme not only highlights alternative travel options, it also enables people to cut journey costs, reduce congestion and Co2 emissions.

The rail replacement service is part of a £7.5billion electrification programme which has now reached the First Great Western Line at Bath Spa, allowing faster, more efficient trains – which may also free up more diesel carriages for Frome.
