66% of Diageo Liftshare members now confirmed as sharing cars – saving £600 each!

Beverage company Diageo continue to lead by example in corporate social responsibility, successfully managing an outstanding performing Liftshare scheme for their staff based in Leven, Fife. The company is now featured as a Liftshare case study, as an example of an exemplary corporate scheme.

Sustainable travel forms an important part of the company’s CSR commitment, which includes tough targets for environmental policies and outputs. Diageo believe in responsible business; working on sustainable supply chains, community empowerment, water preservation, and a happy, healthy, safe workforce.

Dedicated car share parking bays alongside internal ‘Champions’ to promote shared travel has seen the initiative go from strength to strength – with over 66% of the Liftshare scheme members confirmed as sharing a regular journey to/from site.

Members of the scheme already save 60 tonnes of CO2 annually, taking over 180,000 miles off of the roads. This is a real win for Leven, a seaside town that sees a lot of tourism and is committed to maintain its beautiful natural landscape.

It’s also a great deal for Diageo staff. Over £43,000 is saved in petrol costs each year by those already confirmed as sharing – an average saving of almost £600 per member!

Tessa Ward, Diageo’s Liftshare Scheme Manager, says of the continued success: “We are delighted with the growing number of employees who are using the scheme and enjoying the benefits not only in financial terms but in reducing their own carbon footprint.”
