BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend: huge 2015 line-up confirmed!

Following the initial announcements of Taylor Swift, Florence and The Machine, Catfish and The Bottlemen, and Years and Years, Scott Mills took to the airwaves on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show this morning to announce the rest of the line-up for the Big Weekend – and it’s very impressive!

With Nick Grimshaw at home nursing a sore throat, the duty fell to Mr. Mills, who’s been busy with the Strictly Come Dancing tour, to make the big announcements.

This year, the Big Weekend takes place on 23rd and 24th May, at Earlham Park in Norwich. Liftsharers are already offering and taking up lifts to the site as parking will be very limited and public transport options crowded. You can offer or grab a lift yourself at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend Liftsharing site.

The first announcement at 7:30am was 5 Seconds of Summer, who will make the long trip over from Sydney, Australia, all the way to Norwich to play their first festival ever!

Joining them on the Saturday are Ben Howard, Charli XCX, David Guetta, The Vaccines and Fall Out Boy. Muse are headlining the Saturday ahead of their album release at the beginning of June.

On Sunday, Clean Bandit, George Ezra, Olly Murs, Imagine Dragons, Rita Ora, and Sam Smith all support overall headliner Foo Fighters!

The In New Music We Trust stage will be in place both days, and includes performances from artists like Snoop Dogg, Hozier, Jamie T, James Bay, Lower Than Atlantis and Mallory Knox.

More info on the event and the acts playing can be found over at the BBC Radio 1 official Big Weekend website, and you can listen to a playlist of all the artists to get you in the mood.
