Peter Kay’s BBC iPlayer comedy Car Share gets release date

The release date of Peter Kay’s new BBC comedy Car Share has been revealed, and fans can watch the whole six-episode series on iPlayer for a limited period between April 1-5. The show will then head to BBC One later on in April.

Liftshare attended the Car Share premiere in Blackpool on Saturday, March 28, where they watched all six episodes and a live introduction from Kay himself.

We recently published an article about five things we hoped Car Share would get right about the sharing economy, and without spoiling anything we can say that the series gets this sector right. It follows John (Kay) and Kayleigh (Sian Gibson) as they travel to work together as part of their employer’s new car share scheme.

At first we didn’t know exactly how Kay would portray car sharing, or the experience of actually travelling together with a new person, but our team found the show to be heart-warming, touching and very true to the experiences of many of our members. They start off as mere colleagues with little to discuss, but as they get to know each other you will start to see their friendship unfold in various ways.

It’s also very, very funny – but that’s all we’ll say for now. You can expect a full Car Share review on the Liftshare blog soon.
